IN DEN ARGUS
SANTPOORT

We had the honor of designing the restoration and extension of this old hunting lodge.

 

The old hunting lodge in the Argus is located in the middle of the dunes of Santpoort. After years of limited maintenance and disrepair, the house was in very poor condition. We have been commissioned by the new owners to restore and expand the old hunting lodge and make it more sustainable.

 

At the rear and east side, the house has been expanded with an extension that modestly blends in with the existing house. An extra floor has been added underground in the dune, which is provided with sufficient light by internal dormers.

 

The house has been restored with original materials and thermally modified wood was used for the extension. After the restoration, the new home is restored to its original grandeur and completely energy neutral.
